White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational returns to Ocean Club Golf Course

  1. The White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational offers players and coaches an unparalleled overall experience in college golf.
  2. Tournament week begins with practice rounds for seven women’s teams on October 20.
  3. Shortly after, on October 27, twelve men’s teams come together to start their week of tournaments with practice rounds.

Touted by 2019 attendees as one of golf’s premier collegiate events, the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational features 54 holes of women’s competition followed by 54 holes of men’s competition starting Oct. 22 at the famed Ocean Club Golf Course, which has hosted several premier events, most recently the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic.

Tournament week begins with practice rounds for seven women’s teams on October 20. Shortly after, on October 27, twelve men’s teams come together to start their tournament week with practice rounds. A welcome reception is also planned for participants on these respective dates.

“The Ocean Club Golf Course at Paradise Island is sure to provide a breathtaking backdrop throughout the week-long competition,” said Joy Jibrilu, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation of the Bahamas. “Athletes, coaches and spectators attending this highly anticipated tournament will be thrilled to experience the beauty of our country on and off the golf course. From white sand beaches and pristine turquoise waters to local restaurants and historic landmarks, we look forward to welcoming visitors to our shores to see why “It’s Better in the Bahamas.”

Both tournaments are 54 holes played on the par 72 Ocean Club Golf Course at Atlantis Paradise Island, designed by former Grand Champion Tom Weiskopf. The women will compete on a course set at 6,415 yards, while the men will play it at 7,159 yards.

For the inaugural competition in 2019, the University of Texas won the women’s competition with a score of 828, and the University of Houston won the men’s event with a score of 833.

“In 19 years of NCAA college golf, this is the most memorable experience,” said Jonathan Dismuke, director of golf and head coach of men’s golf at the University of Houston.

“The experience my guys have received is an experience that will never be matched in college golf,” added Chad Wilson, men’s golf coach at Georgia State University.
