Sonia Williams, General Manager of Ocean Club Resort, died suddenly on July 7, 2021

Gone too soon” is heard fondly, repeatedly, and with deep sadness at the Ocean Club and Ocean Club West resorts, as we at the resort say goodbye to Sonia Williams-Ewing, Ocean Club’s since 12 years.

Sonia’s approach of leading wholeheartedly with compassion and understanding will live on in every property.

One of the very first Indigenous women from the Turks and Caicos Islands to hold the position of General Manager at a large resort, Sonia began her career at Ocean Club Resorts in 1999 as a front desk clerk.

Within a year, she rose to Front Desk Supervisor and in 2002 was recognized as an outstanding team member and promoted to Front Desk Manager.

Always interested in learning more about all facets of the resort’s overall operations, in 2007 Sonia was appointed Assistant Operations Manager before taking on the role of General Manager of Ocean Club in 2009.

In her spare time, she graduated from the Turks & Caicos Community College Business Studies program.

She effusively shared her love of the hospitality industry and Ocean Club Resorts in particular, with her many friends, extended family, colleagues and loyal customers who sought her out for her warm spirit and generosity on “this happening in Provo.

Her greatest joy was her family – her beloved husband Jamal and her beloved son Jamon.

Managing Director Wilbert Mason said: “Sonia Williams truly embodied the ethos of living, loving, laughing and leaving a lasting legacy. Her loss is a shock to all of us and she will be greatly missed.
