According to the park, giant pandas living in the wild have an average lifespan of 20 years, while captive pandas can reach 30 years in human care.
In 2016, Ocean Park honored the life of Jia Jia, a 38-year-old female giant panda who was the world’s oldest in captivity.
Celebrating this special day with An An, 15-year-old panda couple Le Le and Ying Ying. The three indulged in cakes designed by Häagen-Dazs, which included bamboo, sweet potato and carrot, among other panda-friendly foods.

Le Le and Ying Ying also have upcoming anniversaries – the couple will turn sixteen in the next two weeks.
There could also be other reasons for celebration: Ocean Park earlier reported that the couple had a successful breeding season and that Ying Ying had been showing pregnancy symptoms since late July. The panda’s caregivers are monitoring its hormone levels and behavioral changes, the park said.
