Ocean Park Inn (OPI), a family-run hotel celebrating 30 years in the heart of Pacific Beach, is now open after a year-long, property-wide renovation. The beachfront hotel, conveniently located on the iconic Pacific Beach boardwalk just steps from the sand, unveiled a refreshed exterior, pool and lounge as part of the second phase of a scaled renovation of the property.
Designed to go with the property’s mid-century and beach vibe, the building’s exterior has a fresh new look echoing interior upgrades by the Los Angeles-based bespoke interior design firm , Clear on Black. The newly transformed pool deck features an abstract mid-century pattern in recycled rubber and features crisp white lounge chairs with teak accents to complement the clean, modern aesthetic. The hotel also introduced a new brand aesthetic and website to reflect the community and underlying theme of the mid-century tiki.
The Lai family has operated this iconic hotel since 1967, introducing the Ocean Park Inn brand and its current location in 1991.
The Phase Three lobby upgrades are set to be unveiled in May 2021 and will feature contributions from local artists, including an art installation by Randall Engstrom of Randall’s Sandals, ocean-inspired table tops by Brett Olson of Wave Surface and a walking tour of Pacific Beach by photographer John Cocozza. The fourth and final phase of the renovation is scheduled for 2022 and will include a long-awaited surf and tiki-inspired cocktail pool bar.
