AAn exciting new beachfront opportunity for luxury living will open in Asbury Park in June. Asbury Ocean Club is a collection of residential homes, a beach club, a boutique hotel and a wide selection of amenities, all located at 1101 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park.
The property, developed by iStar and designed by Handel Architects and Anda Andrei Design, rises 17 stories above the ocean, offering uninterrupted ocean views.
“Watching Asbury Ocean Club come to life has been incredibly rewarding,” said Brian Cheripka, senior vice president at iStar. “From the initial planning process through to the construction phase, we’re excited for residents to experience what we’ve created here. We know they will love and appreciate all the extra care taken in selecting every detail of this one-of-a-kind project, from its location in the heart of the waterfront to the finishing touches in the residences.
iStar brought in a team of world-class global talent to bring the building to life, he adds. Included is renowned interior designer Anda Andrei, president of Anda Andrei Design, who created the interiors of the residences, in collaboration with Bonetti Kozerski and Handel Architects. Each home offers stunning ocean views with a wrap-around deck and floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring an abundance of light and air.
Light and airy
“We opted for an open vernacular beach house that was light and airy, and we kept materials simple – concrete and glass with wood accents,” says Gary Handel, Principal, Handel Architects. “The balconies extend to accentuate the horizontal quality of the views. And then we added curvature to the building to reflect the shoreline.
This new luxury beachfront resort features 130 condominiums perched atop a 54-room boutique hotel. In addition, the Asbury Ocean Club offers a full set of amenities and concierge services. Among them are a fitness center, show kitchen, cinema, library and billiard room, business center, and spa on the third floor.
Indoor/outdoor spaces on the fourth floor include an expansive deck with a 65-foot by 30-foot pool overlooking the ocean, full-service bar and grill, gazebo with reflecting pool, and outdoor lounge with fireplace. The ground floor of Asbury Ocean Club will house an upscale, curated shopping center open to the public.
The ocean-view fitness center was programmed by New York-based fitness consultant The Wright Fit, and features a yoga room with a sun-heated meditation deck. The spa offers residents on-call massages and relaxation rooms. There are also children’s facilities as well as an entertainment lounge, 16-seat screening room, library and games room, and an events room with a chef’s kitchen, perfect for hosting private celebrations. .
Top of the line
The interiors of the condominiums are upscale in every way.
Included are a set of Miele kitchen appliances; custom white lacquer cabinetry by Spazzi of Spain; wide plank bleached white oak hardwood flooring; quartz stone countertops; walk-in rain showers in master bathroom; a blue agate accent wall in the secondary baths; ceiling heights up to 10 feet in living areas; 180-270 degree views from every living space; and much more.
A concierge will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pets and their owners will appreciate the dog wash (for those sandy paws!); and private storage rooms for paddle boards and surfboards add to the practical living emphasized at Asbury Ocean Club.
iStar, the Club’s developer, has been a major investor in Asbury Park. Led by general manager Jay Sugarman, iStar has amassed 35 acres in Asbury Park’s waterfront and invested more than $300 million to reinvigorate this beachfront location.
iStar is also behind a 10-year, multi-billion dollar redevelopment plan for a 1.25-mile stretch along the Asbury Park waterfront that includes the Asbury Hotel and Asbury Lanes, a new state-of-the-art bowling alley and music room. According to numerous reports, Asbury Park has flourished under the management of iStar, and with the influx of new visitors and long-time devotees of the neighborhood, the time was right to introduce a luxury residential building of this caliber, believe The promoters.
Asbury Ocean Club was designed to provide the first opportunity for residents to enjoy Asbury Park and the Jersey Shore year-round, they add. One of the goals was to create a one-of-a-kind destination for a new generation that wants to do more than just visit.
“Our first time buyers are dedicated and loyal fans of Asbury Park and are excited to explore it all year round,” said Jodi Stasse, Senior Managing Director of Corcoran Sunshine, who leads Asbury Ocean’s sales. Club. “Many buyers will make this their primary residence, and some will use it as a vacation home ashore. There is a lively scene here year-round, and the amenities and services that are available to our residents will ensure that perfect for living all year round and celebrating the holidays.
Potential residents come from all over, including Princeton, she adds. There is also interest from people in other areas of New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as well as Manhattan and Brooklyn.
“The level of luxury and quality we provide is the same as you find in luxury residential buildings in Manhattan and Miami,” continues Stasse. “The town of Asbury Park has grown into a vibrant destination in its own right under iStar’s leadership, and will only continue to grow.”
Cheripka adds, “It is satisfying to see our work and investments in Asbury Park over the past decade coming to fruition with Asbury Ocean Club, and we look forward to continuing our work in the community.”
