Legacy Entertainment is pleased to announce that Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park will reopen on March 20, after a period of temporary closure due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The company is also continuing its work on several major projects in Asia.
Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park was closed to the public on January 24, 2020 as part of China’s security measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Now the park is enjoying a measured return to business as usual. It has new safety rules in place for the time being, such as limiting the number of visitors, controlling temperatures and only accepting cashless payments.
“The past two months have been some of the toughest our industry has ever faced,” said Barry Kemper, Chief Operating Officer of Legacy. “We deeply admire the leadership shown by our partners and customers at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park in the face of such great adversity.
“Their thoughtful and carefully considered actions set a model for the rest of the world to follow. We are confident that other theme park and theme entertainment owners and operators will soon turn to Haichang and others as they cautiously take the first steps towards normalcy.
Several other Legacy Entertainment projects in the region are also reporting positive news. Vinpearl Land Phú Quốc’s Sea Shell Aquarium in Vietnam is still set to open in summer 2020, while Lotte’s Magic Forest theme park in Busan, South Korea, has announced it is committed to opening in the summer of 2020. summer 2021 as planned.
Legacy Entertainment also recently announced that it has been selected by the OCT Group to create an original design for the company’s 9th Happy Valley theme park. The attraction will be located in Zhengzhou, China.
