Aedas designed the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong to provide a luxury waterfront getaway

Project description

The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong is a new luxury beachfront hotel located along the southern coast of Hong Kong in Shum Wan, backing onto Brick Hill and facing the South China Sea. With its waterfront location, the hotel enjoys a tranquil atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of a city, but with very convenient accessibility to public transport. Inspired by its unique landscape and marine environment, the beachfront hotel takes the architectural form of two streamlined towers that respond and blend comfortably into the existing topography, atop a cascading podium with exterior terraces descending to the seaside. The architectural language creates a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces, introducing nature into the architecture.

The visitor’s journey begins at the entrance of the hotel, all along a green ramp that separates the city from a natural landscape and a panoramic view. A serene atmosphere guides visitors to an elegant porte-cochere. Upon entering the hotel, the reception area will extend into the adjoining double-height lobby lounge with full-height glass towards the horizon. This interplay of various volumes of architectural space with different perspectives creates a unique arrival experience. An outdoor promenade is complemented by full landscape and sea views, embracing visitors in an urban oasis.

The multi-level podium offers elevated multi-level common areas that enjoy panoramic ocean views, extending from the ground floor to the third floor in nature. With distinctive characters, the five beachfront dining destinations are strategically planned on different floors, offering unique angles of the stunning views and creating a bespoke atmosphere and dining experience for visitors. They are connected to the outdoor terrace or raised walkway to maximize the use of space and integrate indoor-outdoor spaces.

Immersed in a picturesque landscape, a 60m long outdoor infinity pool is located on the third floor to provide a relaxing escape surrounded by lush vegetation. The West Tower’s fifth-floor luxury gym and spa support a wellness-based lifestyle to purify the soul and body. The hotel includes a children’s zone and a lagoon to provide an adventurous and fun-filled experience to ensure quality family time for every traveler. The 520m² Grand Ballroom, banquet halls and indoor-outdoor event spaces host different types of events accompanied by spectacular ocean views, providing remarkable venues to create treasured memories.

Erected atop the podium, the single-load hotel towers maximize the number of rooms, housing 425 ocean-view rooms with 13 room types. The streamlined, gently curved shape maximizes the facade’s facade, providing unobstructed ocean views from every room. The bedroom floors, elevator lobbies and corridors are fully glazed and open to the beauty of the surrounding green surroundings. The west tower cascades to the upper floors to meet the mountain ridgeline backdrop, offering two signature suites with private plunge pools and garden terraces. The luxurious one- and two-bedroom suites in the East Tower and Beachfront Balcony enjoy private balconies that merge upscale interiors and south side nature. The theme of sustainability proliferates throughout the design, from functionality to landscaping, making the hotel a recipient of WELL v2™ pre-certification and the first WELL™ accredited hotel in Hong Kong and China. It is recognized by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™) for its environmentally responsible facilities, including the introduction of immersive nature programs to enhance visitors’ experience of the surrounding natural environment. “The hotel offers a luxurious and contemporary retreat for visitors in its beautiful beachfront setting. The nautical narrative continues throughout the hotel through a seamless connection of outdoor and indoor spaces. It creates an immersive hospitality experience embraced by the beauty of nature, celebrating the serene greenery of the mountains and the calm shades of the blue ocean, in the midst of the cosmopolitan international city of Hong Kong. said Aedas Executive Director Jerome Wong.
